You might be an activist or organizer, you might be a traveler who is socially aware, or you might be a newbie to the entire concept of solidarity travel – for that matter, you might have just learned that Western Sahara is a real place, populated by Saharawi people.
In any case, if you want to physically travel to Western Sahara as part of a delegation organized by Just Visit Western Sahara to show your solidarity with the Saharawi people and support their right to self-determination, then you have come to the right place. (And, if you aren’t ready to travel yet, there are other ways you can support this initiative and Saharawi people everywhere.)
Some things to consider:
JVWS is a new initiative, and have limited funds to assist delegation members. At this time, people are encouraged to purchase their own airline tickets if they are able to do so – allowing JVWS to support travelers who would not be able to participate without financial assistance.
JVWS will need to know a lot about you – just as you will need to know a lot about us – so that we are all comfortable working together in a way that makes sense for us and our Saharawi partners.
To show your interest in participating in a future delegation please send an email to info@justvisitwesternsahara.org with the following: name, brief bio including your location, organizing experience, and any personal information that would be important for us to know to support you. If you have a CV or resume, you are welcome to send that as well.
ALL information shared with us will be maintained in strictest confidence and will only be used in regards to delegation participant selection and support.
Risk disclosure: Traveling anywhere is a risk, period. Traveling to Western Sahara is no exception. During our mutual vetting process, we will discuss all aspects of participation that you will need to know – to include risks associated with travel. You will also have the opportunity to speak with past delegation participants.
